Philip left the US Olympic Training Center in San Diego Saturday August 19, 2000 for Australia. He trained in Brisbane for about three weeks, flew to Sydney for the Opening Ceremonies, cheered his teammates in the 20K on 22 September. Philip walked a 4:03.5 for 28th place in the 50K race September 29th. He was seeded 55th out of 56 walkers in the 50K, yet finished 28th. His last report from Sydney is listed under September 30th although it was sent on October 1, 2000.
